Balancing Life and a Part Time Business
For me, running a part time business is a thrill. I love being able to make money selling books online! I really had no idea how much more money I would have to this day before I sold those first few books that I had laying on the shelf in my house. As I started to make more and more money and started to really see the salesAn exchange of goods or services for currency or credit. A sales letter is a form of direct mail in which an advertiser sends a letter to a potential customer. rolling in, I also saw that it was taking up more time in my life. With any part time business, it will require some time, hard work and dedication to get it going anywhere. Don't be fooled by some people about how it's so easy to make money online from the comfort of your home. Even if you aren't actually selling any physical products, it still requires a ton of work, but it is very possible.
Selling books online either full time or part time requires a careful balance. Depending on whatever else you have in your life, this endeavor is only a small piece of the pie of the your roles that you have. For example, I am a father, husband, son, full time employee, business owner and blogger. I have a lot of roles that I have to fill and I have decided to spend a significant amount of that time owning my own business which, as you have probably guessed, is selling books online. I also love blogging about selling books online and teaching others how to do the same. Doing all of this in tandem has required me to reevaluate my roles in my life and strike a balance with life, business, work, etc.
Running a part time business and, more specifically, selling books online requires a few questions to be answered.
1. How much time do you want to dedicate to this? Are you already strapped for time as it is with a full time job, being a father, mother, son, daughter or caregiver? If you simply do not have the time in your life at the moment, but still want to look at selling books online you will have to either spend less time with one of your other roles or simply don't sell books. It's that simple. If you honestly think that making money online by selling books will benefit you and provide you or your family some extra needed income then go for it! I love that! At the same time though, you always have to pat attention to what is important in life and it is not money. Spend time with your family if you don't do it already, but if you have some extra time like I did, I chose to help my family and make more money so that we can enjoy the finer things in life such as a sky high car payment!
2. Are you not enjoying where you are at this point in time? For example, if you don't enjoy your job but you have always loved books, looking into selling books online is the way to go for you! Take the time, do a lot of research by visiting my blog and all the other material out there about selling books online and just start! I'm a firm believer in starting before you're ready. If you enjoy your job, but are not making ends meet then selling books online can also help you there! Some people simply love going to work every day. If you are one of these people and have the time in your life and want to add that extra role then you are also a prime candidate for selling books!
3. Strike a balance. This is the key to successful online book selling and life, in general. You have a finite amount of time in your daily life. If you want to sell books online, find the time. What can you cut out of your day to make some easy money? Are you watching too much TV? Do you spend too much time on the golf range? Cut it out! Cut the fat off of your daily activities to do something that will benefit you or your family! I have found that selling books online does that for me with no risk, not a whole lot of time and a ton of reward!
Always remember that we all have a limited amount of time in our lives and we always have to be cognisant of this. As a famous person once said, "There is no such thing as a free lunch". This doesn't hold more true when starting up a part time business selling books onlineE.g online business, a home business (or "home-based business" or "HBB") that operates from the business owner's home office exclusively via internet network. either. It does require time just like anything else and be sure to remember that even though you may make a ton of money at this businessThe production/distribution of goods or services for profit. Such activity can be carried out by an individual, a family, a partnership, or an incorporated company. and it doesn't cost you very much monetarily, you're paying in sweat hours and that is a pretty valuable asset too.
